me

Hi!  I am in my second year of graduate school and live in St. Louis, Missouri.  I'm originally from New York but have lived in the midwest for over 3 years now.  Food speaking, the midwest is really not all that different from the East Coast.  There are a few little differences, like the presence of gravy and biscuits over my favorite corn beef hash.  And of course, the pizza.  After pretty much living off great, greasy New York pizza for the better portion of college, I will never accept any other pizza (especially if it is cut in squares) as the real deal.

I have tried some new foods here, like fried chicken livers and gizzards at a restaurant that was on Mississippi River.  Though I will not be trying them anytime soon, it was a pretty fun experience.  Really though, it is not the state or the part of the country that has really opened my eyes to new food and how to cook it- that is all Greg's (my boyfriend) doing.  He loves to cook, eat, and read about cooking and eating.  He has taught me a lot in the kitchen and now I love cooking too.  Food is a big part of our relationship so that is partly why we are trying to make sure we eat healthy during the week.  During the weekend, we love to try new places and new food and also really like craft beer (and St. Louis is a great place for that!).
